Golf superstar Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover car crash Friday afternoon on Jupiter Island, Florida, near 281 Beach Road, according to authorities.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred just after 2 p.m. on March 27, 2026, near 281 Beach Road. Officials have not released additional details about what led to the rollover or the extent of any injuries, and the situation remains developing.

Echo of his 2021 crash

The news immediately draws comparisons to Woods’ serious 2021 crash in Rolling Hills Estates, California, when his SUV struck a tree and rolled, leaving him with significant injuries. Investigators later said there were no signs of impairment in that incident, though the investigation drew criticism after authorities did not obtain a warrant for blood samples that could have tested for alcohol or drugs. Woods was not charged.

Woods has previously faced scrutiny related to driving incidents, including a 2017 DUI arrest in Florida. He later entered a clinic for prescription medication issues following that arrest.

What we know—and what we don’t

At this time, authorities have only confirmed the rollover and the location and timing of the crash. No further information has been made public, and updates are expected as officials learn more. The sheriff’s office is actively investigating and has scheduled a media briefing. Preliminary reports from Martin County Fire Rescue indicate the incident involved two vehicles, one of which rolled over.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates, including the sheriff’s media briefing, as more details become available.

Update Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed in a press conference that Tiger Woods was arrested for DUI Friday after his involvement in a rollover crash with a pickup truck near his home in Jupiter, Florida.

  • Woods was trying to pass the truck and clipped back of it, then rolled onto drivers door and slid, Budensiek said. Woods was able to climb out and didn’t appear to be injured.

  • Woods appeared impaired, according to Budensiek, and was given a breathalyzer on the scene. He passed that test but refused a urinalysis and was taken into custody, where he’ll be held for 8 hours per standard procedure in a DUI case.

  • Woods was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol but possibly some other medication.
