Elimination Chamber 2026: Bleacher Report’s Safe Picks vs. Toss Boss Reality Check

Bleacher Report thinks Elimination Chamber 2026 is pretty predictable. I think they’re underestimating WWE’s love for a swerve.
This is the last stop before WrestleMania 42 (tomorrow night in Chicago), and the two Chamber winners are basically punching their tickets to face Drew McIntyre (Undisputed WWE Championship) and Jade Cargill (WWE Women’s Championship) at Mania. BR’s picks are logical. My question is: are they too logical—or just playing it safe when WWE needs chaos?
CM Punk (c) vs. Finn Bálor — World Heavyweight Championship
BR pick: Punk retains
BR’s reasoning: Punk vs. Roman at WrestleMania is too big to risk weeks out—especially with Roman already locked in via the Rumble win.
I’m with the result. But if Punk’s retaining, it can’t be “good match, respect, move on.” Bálor’s been framed as desperate, and desperate guys don’t lose quietly.
How it should go down:
Judgment Day interference that Punk barely overcomes
Bálor spirals post-match, fueling Judgment Day drama into Mania
Toss Boss call: Punk retains—but it should be a war, not a handshake.
Becky Lynch (c) vs. AJ Lee — Women’s Intercontinental Championship
BR pick: Lynch retains
BR’s logic: AJ’s “wins” over Becky came in tags/WarGames, and WWE probably wants Becky carrying a title into Mania because she’s still one of the most recognizable faces in the company.
Here’s the tightrope: AJ’s return is electric right now. A clean loss in her first singles match back kills momentum faster than a botched GTS.
So if Becky retains (which feels likely), protect AJ like this:
AJ falls to a single mistake (ring rust or hesitation giving Becky the opening)
Becky outsmarts her—steals the win with ring IQ, not power
Toss Boss call: Becky retains—just don’t cool AJ off with a clean, flat finish.
Women’s Elimination Chamber — (Winner faces Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania)
Participants: Tiffany Stratton, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Kiana James, Raquel RodriguezBR pick: Stratton wins
This is BR’s best pick because it’s the cleanest story: Tiffany lost the title to Jade in January and never got the rematch. That’s a Mania build you can explain in one sentence.
Rhea would deliver a banger with Jade, but story > spectacle here—especially with Rhea living in tag/storyline limbo lately. Tiffany is the smarter, story-driven choice.
Toss Boss call: I’m buying Stratton. Let her cut that promo fire on Raw post-win and make the rematch feel inevitable.
Men’s Elimination Chamber — (Winner faces Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania)
Participants: Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, LA Knight, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Jey UsoBR pick: Rhodes wins
BR basically writes off LA Knight, Jey, etc., as “moment guys,” and says it’s really Cody vs. Orton. I get it—but Chamber matches thrive on false finishes and crowd pops. Don’t sleep on:
Knight teasing a win and having the building ready to explode
Jey getting within inches of stealing it and breaking hearts
Still, if the Mania plan is Drew vs. Cody, this is the cleanest way to get there.
But I’ll say it: Orton hitting #15 in a massive stadium? That’s old-school headline heat.
Toss Boss call: Cody is the safe pick. Orton is the spicy pick. If WWE wants maximum buzz leaving Chicago, Orton steals it and headlines everywhere Sunday.
What’s in the Box? (Mystery Crate Reveal)
BR pick: Danhausen
This is the most “internet wrestling” thing on the show, and BR leans into it. Danhausen fits the gimmick—goofy, weird, instantly meme-able (and the Chicago/Punk-adjacent vibes don’t hurt).
But WWE has to nail the presentation. Danhausen would get a pop from the plugged-in fans, but WWE has to explain him to casuals in 30 seconds or less—otherwise it’s a viral moment that flops live.
How to make it work:
quick vignette explaining the curse/gimmick
one clear target/next step so it’s not just “lol random”
Toss Boss call: Danhausen is plausible—and high execution. Nail the presentation, or it dies in the building.
Final Scorecard (BR vs. Toss Boss)
Match/Angle | BR Pick | Toss Boss Agreement? | How it should go down |
Punk (c) vs. Bálor (World Heavyweight Championship) | Punk | Yes | Judgment Day chaos, Punk survives; Bálor spirals into JD drama |
Becky (c) vs. AJ (Women’s Intercontinental Championship) | Becky | Mostly | Becky escapes with ring IQ; AJ protected (no clean momentum-killer) |
Women’s Chamber (vs. Jade — WWE Women’s Champ) | Tiffany | Yes | Tiffany wins with story momentum, not luck |
Men’s Chamber (vs. Drew — Undisputed WWE Champ) | Cody | Yes-ish | Cody likely, but let Orton/Knight/Jey make it feel dangerous |
Mystery Crate (What’s in the Box?) | Danhausen | Maybe | Quick explanation + clear direction, or it’s a viral flop live |
