Portugal's federation is not messing around. Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation after he walked out on the national team following a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus, with disciplinary proceedings officially opened on Saturday.

Ronaldo left the Portugal camp in Copenhagen before the Nations League match against Denmark after being an unused substitute against Norway. He said Jesus broke his word twice over his playing time. Ronaldo apologized this week and said he'd accept whatever punishment comes — but he stays suspended while the case plays out.

Per the federation's rules, walking out on national team duty can carry a one-to-six-month suspension. The all-time great's Portugal future is officially in question. Wild times.
